Mocking up foil on printouts
Thermoweb | iCraft Deco Foil
They don't talk about adhering the foil to Laser printouts until 7:15.
This will NOT work with inkjet - only lasers. It sticks to the toner.

Canon Pixma Pro 100: use the rebate. senior says it works fine with
non-Cannon inks
Cannon Pixma iX6820 has good quality but the inks are very
expensive
A recent graduate recommends the Epson Artisan 1430
Another recent graduate recommends the Epson WF 7620 “No professor ever called us out on print
quality, only for not showing up with a finished project. Get the stuff you
need to succeed.”

John D. Berry's website
Berry has designed book covers and book interiors, written about type, and is a past president of ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale). In short, a true typographer.
Berry's essay is largely a recap of Carl Dair's classic book, Design with Type. Carl Dair was one of the first fellows of the Graphic Designers of Canada. More about Dair here.

Checklist for your essays
~ Check spelling errors.
~ Check for unnecessary changes in typefaces, type sizes, etc. Remember you want a unified feeling.
~ Make use of PARAGRAPH STYLES and CHARACTER STYLES.
~ Space from headline to paragraph should be consistent. Space from paragraph to paragraph should be consistent. Use Styles to do this automatically.
~ Do not both indent and skip a line between paragraphs.
~ Bullet points are too far from the text. Do not rely on the default setting for this.
~ Do not ever use FRRL unless there is an extremely good reason! And do run flush type to the edge of your page when you can set a margin - unless you want edgy, barely-readable text.
~ While your text should be unified, watch out for monotony. Don't do exactly the same thing too many times – employ few tricks in many combinations.
~ Images should be unified by placement, color, scale, etc.
~ Modify initial layouts based on your TEXT. For instance not all columns will be the same depth (vertical measurement) if you pay attention to paragraph breaks.
