This is really interesting. I think the fact that Apple will likely be leaving behind the textures and "old fashioned" objects will influence design elsewhere. Many designers look at Apple for inspiration.
I like the sentiment of the bookshelf, and the little wire trashcan, I think it creates not only a nice aesthetic, but also a psychological connection between the viewer and the phone/app.
I don't think these artifacts/textures will go away completely, but whatever new design decions Apple make will not go unnoticed.
